PURPOSE:To prevent a reproduced waveform from changing unspecifically because of residual magnetization of a magnetic head by providing a control circuit which controls a recording current supply circuit so that a current in a specified direction is supplied to specified one of the first and the second windings. CONSTITUTION:A dealy circuit 24 as the recording current control circuit is connected between a recording gate signal line 21 and NAND gates 16 and 17. Even after a flip-flop 16 is reset at a time t5, a high-level signal is supplied to NAND gates 16 and 17 through the delay circuit 24 till a time t6. Therefore, till the time t6 when the high-level signal is outputted from the delay circuit 24, the output of the second NAND gate 17 is in the low level, and the current is flowed to one specified winding 6; and therefore, the state of residual magnetization is made constant, and shift of the reproduced waveform, which is obtained from a head 3, due to residual magnetization is made constant, and peak points of the reproduced waveform are detected accurately.
