PURPOSE:To enable a transfer cassette to be replaced in a single action, by a construction wherein a transfer material is wound around a pair of winding cores, and the cores are detachably fitted into a casing, thereby enclosing the transfer material in the cassette. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon cassette 14 incorporates two parallel winding cores 31, 32 around which both end parts of a thermal transfer ribbon 15 are respectively wound, and the ribbon 15 is enclosed in the casing 33, with a part thereof exposed so that an intermediate part thereof is located between a platen 10 and a thermal head 11. A slit 34 with an end side opened is provided between winding core containing parts 33a, 33b of the casing 33 in the axial direction of the cores 31, 32, and driving force receiving end parts 31a, 32a for the cores 31, 32 are provided on the opened end side of the slit 34. A coupling 37 can be moved in the axial direction of a motor 36, so that it does not hinder the fitting operation of the ribbon cassette 14. |
