PURPOSE:To perform efficient transfer through simple constitution by transferring a control signal and image information with added identification bits by the same path at the same speed through a a start-stop synchronous serial interface. CONSTITUTION:Facsimile equipment A and a multiple address communication unit B are coupled together through the start-stop synchronous serial interface. The communication system between the equipment A and unit B providing the identification bit B behind 8-bit data D1 (LSB), and D2-D8 (MSB) and assigns, for example, 1 to the control signal and 0 to image information as the bit C to transfer them by the same path at the same speed. A data transmission instruction DCS is sent from the equipment to the unit B, which returns a reception preparation completion signal CFT. Consequently, the equipment A sends the image information to the unit B. Identification bits of the instruction DCS and signal CFR are 1 and that of the image information is 0. Thus, the efficient transfer is performed through the simple constitution.
