PURPOSE:To enable to enhance workability in maintanance, adjustment or the like of a recording head, by a construction wherein a recording head can be moved futher to the side opposite to a platen beyond a normal non-recording position. CONSTITUTION:A guide plate 23 restrains a carriage 11 from being turned with a guide shaft 13 as a center. A slidable arm 26 is fixed to the carriage 11 so that it slides on the upper surface of the guide plate 23. When the carriage 11 is so moved that the arm 26 reaches the position of a cut part 24 or 25, the carriage 11 can be turned clockwise with the guide shaft 13 as a center. By turning the carriage 11, the spacing between the platen 1 and the recording head 18 can be sufficiently widened as compared with that in the condition wherein the head 18 is located in a recording region A, so that the head 18 can be efficiently adjusted or cleaned. |
