PURPOSE:To obtain a picture image having highest intensity with high sensitivity and high contrast by developing in the presence of >= specified mole of a compd. of the second group contg. no SH group per 1mol of silver halide. CONSTITUTION:Development is carried out in the presence of at least one compd. of the first group selected from a group consisting of tetrazaindenes having at least one mercapto group, purines having mercapto group, triazaindenes having mercapto group, and pentazaindenes having mercapto group, and at least one compd. selected from compds. of the second group consisting of tetrazaindenes having no mercapto group but having at least one OH group, purines having no mercapto group but having at least one OH group, triazaindenes having no mercapto group but having at least one OH group, and pentazaindenes having no mercapto group but having at least one OH group, wherein the compd. of the second group is contained in >=5X10<-3>mol per 1mol silver halide. |
