PURPOSE:To measure up to high concentration of a suspension projecting beam- shaped measuring light from a gas or solid side upon the boundary surface between a gas or solid body with transparency and liquid containing a suspension, and measuring the size of a light image formed on the boundary surface. CONSTITUTION:When the measuring light 4 is projected on the boundary surface 8 almost at right angles from a light source device through a glass plate 7 which constitutes part of a wall surrounding the liquid 1, the circular light image 6 is formed on the boundary surface 8. The size of the light image 6 is photodetected by a photodetection part 10 consisting of a linear array of numbers of photodiodes at constant intervals through a convave lens 9 having a through hole 9a for the measuring light 4 in the center and converted into an electric signal, which is inputted to a signal processing part 11 to detect the size of the light image 6. An arithmetic unit 13 outputs a signal 13a corresponding to the concentration of the suspension in the liquid 1 on the basis of the detected value. Consequently, high concentration is measured without any blocking cuased by the suspension. |
