PURPOSE:To offer an optical switch having advantages of both a spatial split switch and a time division switch by using a variable wavelength branching filter filtering a specific wavelength signal in an optical wavelength multiplex signal designated by an external control signal and a fixed wavelength converting element converting the signal into a specific optical wavelength signal. CONSTITUTION:Branching filters 4-1, 4-2, 4-3 of an optical switch 8 filter signals of wavelength lambda3, lambda1 and lambda2 including information C, A and B according to a command of a control line 7, the result is inputted respectively to wavelength converting elements 5-1, 5-2 and 5-3 whose output wavelengths are fixed to the lambda1, lambda2 and lambda3 and the wavelength converting processing of lambda1 lambda2, lambda2 lambda3 and lambda3 lambda1 is executed. The output light including the information C, A and B is multiplexed by the synthesizer 6 again, the result is transmitted to an output transmission line 12, and the signal of wavelength lambda1 including the information C is transmitted from an output terminal X, and the signal of wavelength lambda2 including the information A is outputted from an output terminal Y and a signal of wavelength lambda3 including the information B is outputted from an output terminal Z. |
