Electromotor with automatic brake

The electromotor has a wedge-shaped surface inclined to the plane of rotation. The wedge-shaped surface comes to rest against a second such surface when the brake is applied. The second surface is on the rotor. The material from which one wedge-shaped surface (18,19) is made is much softer than that of the other surface (16,17). The inclination between the two touching surfaces is less than 5 degrees. The soft surface is aluminium and the hard, steel. There are several sets of first and second surfaces inclined by 25-35 degrees to the plane of rotation. The hard surfaces are made by drawing, pressing or rolling. The soft surfaces are lubricated.
