PURPOSE:To prevent the side surfaces of the rotor of a vane-type fluid machine from seizing, by providing grooves on the side surfaces of the rotor so that the grooves are located behind vanes as to the direction of the rotation of the rotor. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 27 are provided on the side surfaces of the rotor 21 of a vane-type fluid machine so that the grooves are located to cover all areas 13 which would seize. As a result, the rotor 21 and side plates 24 do not come into metal contact with each other in the areas 13, so that the areas do not seize and melt into alloy. Since metal powder produced due to the friction of members is put in the grooves 27, other areas do not seize and metallize into alloy, either.
