PURPOSE:The titled resin excellent in heat resistance, bending strength, bending modulus, etc., obtained by mixing bisphenol A with bisphenol S and reacting the mixture with an aromatic dicarboxylic acyl chloride and phosgene. CONSTITUTION:Bisphenol A is mixed with bisphenol S at a molar ratio of about 9:1-2:3, and the mixture is reacted with an aromatic dicarboxylic acyl chloride (e.g., terephthaloyl chloride) and phosgene to obtain the purpose aromatic polyester-polycarbonate resin. This resin comprises structural units of formulas I , II, IIIand IV in the ratios of (formula I + formula III) to (formula II + formula IV) of 4:1-2:3 and (formula I + formula II) to (formula III + formula IV of 9:1-2:3 and has a reduced viscosity as measured in a methylene chloride solution of 0.3-1dl/g.
