摘要 |
PURPOSE:To measure a scattered light distribution over a three-dimensional angle range by measuring a scattered light angle distribution at different angles in the lengthwise direction of the optical fiber to be measured while rotating the optical fiber to be measured around a center axis. CONSTITUTION:While a light signal from a light source 25 is made incident on the optical fiber 1 to be measured, optical fiber holders 2 and 3 are stopped at specific positions firstly. A table 15 is rotated and at the same time, the intensity of scattered light photodetected by a coverging cylinder 11 at an angle theta is observed. Then, the optical fiber holders 2 and 3 are rotated slightly and a measurement is taken similarly. This is repeated to obtain numbers of data having parameters, i.e. the angle phi of axial rotation of the optical fiber 1 to be measured and the angle theta of the optical fiber 1 in the lengthwise direction. The scattered light is measured over the entire three-dimensional angle range and the distribution of the center of scattering and variance of waveguide structure which cause the scattering are observed quantitatively and qualitatively. |
