PURPOSE:To make the titled detector usable also to an infrared analyzing instrument for on-line by setting an infrared absorption material in a tightly closed vessel, sealing a gas having no infrared absorption characteristics, and detecting the pressure variation of the sealed gas caused by the incident infrared ray. CONSTITUTION:The infrared ray 8 made incident from an infrared transmitting window 5 is absorbed by the infrared absorbing material 6, converted to thermal energy, thereby, the gas in a detecting chamber 2 is expanded thermally and the pressure is raised. On the other hand, the pressure is not varied in a standard chamber 3 since infrared ray is not irradiated therein. Accordingly, the sealed gas flows through a connecting path 4 due to the pressure difference between the chambers 2 and 3. If the ray 8 to be detected is irradiated intermittently, the sealed gas is vibrated between the chambers 2 and 3. Consequently, the vibration is converted to an electric signal by a heat ray element 7 arranged at the path 4, and the intensity of the ray 8 is detected from the electric signal. |
