PURPOSE:To obtain ink jet recording paper showing optimum ink absorbability in a dynamic state at the time of the operation of ink jet recording, by coating substrate paper with a specific coating material. CONSTITUTION:The surface of substrate paper is coated with a coating material consisting of siliceous pigment and a water soluble binder and ink absorbing capacity is set to a range of 2.4-3.3mg/cm<2>. In an on-demand type head for emitting ink along with an air stream, coated ink droplets are often spread or scattered by the air stream at the time of ink jet recording and, therefore, ink absobing capacity is pref. made larger. By this method, recording paper, of which the absorbing capacity is in a range of 2.3-3.3mg/cm<2>, becomes pref. as on-demand type ink jet recording paper. |
