PURPOSE:An agricultural and horticultual germicide, containing an azole-substituted alcohol derivative as an active constituent, and capable of exhibiting a powerful activity against pathogenic germs derived from fungi and soil. CONSTITUTION:An agricultural and horticultural germicide containing a compound expressed by formula I [A is C=D, CH(OH), etc.; Q is imidazolyl or triazolyl; R<1> is H, alkyl or acyl; R<2> and R<3> are alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, benzyl, heterocyclic group or phenyl, etc.] or an acid addition salt thereof, e.g. the compound expressed by formula II, as an active constituent. The compound expressed by formula I or acid addition salt thereof is capable of exhibiting a powerful activity against pathogenic germs (fungi) damaging various plants and pathogenic germs, e.g. pathogenic germs of powdery mildew, downy mildew, sheath blight or damping-off, etc. derived from soil.
