PURPOSE:To combine molecular arrangement structure of fiber with a macroscopic state, and to improve pilling resistance extremely, by carrying out orientation crystallization spinning by the use of a specific nozzle, providing the polyester yarn with potentially crimping properties, heat-treating it specifically. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene terephthalate is spun at extremely high rate by the use of a nozzle to make a ratio (Iy/Ix) of moment of inertia of the cross section to an axis (y axis) perpendicular to x axis to moment of inertia of the cross section to an axis (x axis) showing the maximum moment of inertia of the cross section of a single fiber in the final yarn of <=0.8, to obtain orientated and crystallized yarn. The crystallized system is provided with potentially crimping properties by unsymmetrical cooling method, etc. at spinning stage. The yarn is subjected to relaxation heat treatment so that potential crimping is actualized, the yarn is then subjected to stretching heat treatment, so that the actualized crimp is elongated and converted to twist to give the desired yarn.
