PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing a specific dibenzylurea based compound and 4-(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl)-1,3-dimethyl-5-phenacyloxy-pyrazole, nd capable of remarkably increasing herbicidal effect by synergistic action. CONSTITUTION:A herbicidal composition containing a compound of formula I (X is H or halogen; R<1> and R<2> are methyl or ethyl), e.g. 1-(2-chlorobenzyl)-3-(alpha,alpha- diethylbenzyl)urea, having high effect on granuneous and cyperaceous weeds but low effect on broad-leaved weeds, and reducing the effect thereof with advance in growth of weeds and 4-(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl)-1,3-dimethyl-5-phenacyloxy- pyrazole having high effect on perennial broad-leaved weeds but low effect on cyperaceous weeds at 1:0.5-5wt. ratio between the former and the latter. The above-mentioned composition is capable of suppressing almost completely the development of weeds over the whole growth period of paddy rice only by one treatment.
