PURPOSE:A gallstone dissolvent, containing a specific fatty acid monoglyceride and a fatty acid, etc. which is a liquid at a specific temperature, usable at ordinary temperature with low irritancy, and capable of remarkably increasing the dissolution rate of cholesterol based gallstones and directly dissolving the gallstones. CONSTITUTION:A gallstone dissolvent obtained by incorporating a 6-12C fatty acid monoglyceride, particularly preferably octanoic acid and decanoic acid monoglyceride used as an emulsifying agent with a fatty acid which is a liquid at 30 deg.C with low toxicity, particularly preferably linolic acid, linolenic acid, Emery type isostearic acid, fatty acid triglyceride or diglyceride. The further addition of a nonionic surfactant provides more improved effect. The dissolvent can be used for bloodless therapy of incising a papilla endoscopically for postoperative remaining calculi, indwelling a pernasal bile-duct drain, and injecting the dissolvent through the drain to dissolve calculi or injecting the dissolvent through the pernasal bile-duct drain to dissolve directly the gallstones.
