PURPOSE:To reduce the comma aberration of a cathode-ray tube by increasing the width of leads extending from the four electrode parts of an arrow pattern deflecting electrode. CONSTITUTION:Leads 12H+, 12H-, 12V+ and 12V- extend parallel to the axis of a cathode-ray tube, from the centers of four electrode parts H+, H-, V+ and V- respectively. The widths WH+, WH-, WV+ and WV- of the leads 12H+, 12H-, 12V+ and 12V- are adjusted to be equal. When the area corresponding to each of the leads 12H+-12V- is supposed to be S0 (the length of the lead X circumference) and the total area corresponding to the leads 12H+-12V- is supposed to be S, the ratio S/S0 is adjusted to be 0.15-0.60, for example. As a result, electron beams are preliminary deflected and therefore the comma aberration is widely reduced.
