PURPOSE:To obtain a substrate having excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength and good productivity by using a substrate prepd. by superposing several layers of latticed glass fibers at changed relative lattice angles in a high polymer material, unitizing the same to one body and removing anisotropy as a whole as a substrate for a magnetic disc. CONSTITUTION:Nine sheets of, for example, 1.1mm. latticed glass fibers 4 are superposed at the lattice angle shifted by 10 deg. each and are put into a mold. A high polymer material 5 having good resistance to heat, acid and sliding such as polyimide resin or the like is poured therein and is cooled after curing by heating then the molding is taken out. The molding is subjected to lapping on both sides then to sizing of the inside and outside diameters and finish polishing, by which a substrate 6 is obtd. The anisotropy in the strength of the glass fibers is removed in the above-mentioned way to increase mechanical strength in all directions. A magnetic layer 1 is formed by sputtering, etc. a magnetic metal such as ''Permalloy'' on the molding. The highly reliable magnetic disc which withstands high-speed revolution of a disc is thus obtd.
