PURPOSE:To miniaturize and simplify an apparatus where access time for desired input item is reduced by eliminating a fixed guide plate for plural first rollers and forming the first rollers to be polygonal, that is, to have a polygonal cross section. CONSTITUTION:The first rollers 12 are regular triangular prisms, that is, have triangular cross section, and each triangular facet 14 functions as a guide plate. The first rollers 12 are rotated by 120 deg. arc each by driving means in such a manner that one triangular facet becomes horizontal, and the second roller 13 is rotated by fixed amount each, so that the first rollers are driven to rotate in 120 deg. arc each through a tape 11. Accordingly, the tape 11 on the first rollers 12 is always positioned horizontally to facilitate processing information on the tape. Furthermore, a guide plate for information processing or the like is not required to simplify the structure of the apparatus.
