An oxygen sensor comprises a tubular solid-electrolyte body having electrodes at its inner and outer surface, a housing supporting the solid-electrolyte body in such a way that its outer face at one end of the body is exposed to a gas to be tested, that its inner face, while maintaining a gas-tight state with respect to the test gas, is exposed to ambient air, and which on the ambient air side is provided with an annular collar, an electrical heating element inserted into the tubular solid-electrolyte body, conductor devices which supply an output signal characteristic for an electromotive force between the electrodes and feed energy to the heating element, and an annular jacket which has a terminal section bearing on the outer face of an annular collar of the housing. The inner face of the terminal section of the annular jacket is retained under contact pressure on the outer face of the annular collar so as to bear thereon in a gas-tight manner, with the result that this inner face of the jacket terminal section and the outer face of the annular collar, interacting with one another, form a continuous annular seal over the entire circumference of the housing and the jacket.
