A loading and unloading apparatus serves to load a stacking container (2) with thin-walled shaped parts, for example large sheet-metal stamped parts for car manufacture, or to unload the thin-walled shaped parts from the stacking container. Arranged at the delivery end of a portal-like base frame (1) is an intermediate magazine (7) which accommodates several shaped parts between a top magazine carrier (8) and a bottom magazine carrier (9), which freely project. Gripping carriers (19, 20) freely projecting in the opposite direction are attached to a gripping carriage (16) which is movable along the base frame (1). The gripping carriers (19, 20) take over the shaped parts from the intermediate magazine (7) and convey them into the stacking container (2), the corner support (4) of which can be turned down for this purpose. <IMAGE>
