PURPOSE:To prepare a filter element from causing remarkable reduction of adsorption efficiency by heating and compressing a first fiber board contg. binder fiber having molten adsorbent particles bonded to the surface with a second and a third board contg. binder fiber to cause fusion bonding forming one body. CONSTITUTION:A first board 13 having a regulated shape is prepd. by blanking a nonwoven fiber board made of a mixed fiber consisting of low-melting polyester fiber and normal polyester fiber. The above described board 13 is laid on a layer 12 of active carbon particles heated by an electric heating plate 11 and is compressed by applying a pressure using a pressing plate 15 to stick the active carbon particles by fusion bonding to a rear surface of the board 13 forming substantially a monoparticle layer 19. The board 13 is inserted between a second and a third board 21, 23 having also a regulated shape prepd. by blanking the same fiber board, which is laid on an electric heating plate 20 and compressed with a similar pressing plate as the pressing plate 15, and excessive parts of the second and the third boards 21, 23 forced out of the first board are bonded by fusion to each other.
