PURPOSE:To reduce the running cost by using ferrite particles as polishing material and separating and recovering the polishing chips and polishing material in mixed state through magnetic separation after polishing work and facilitating the utilization in the second time. CONSTITUTION:A test piece made of 7-3 brass having a surface roughness of 10mum is polished by hand on a polishing base by using the ferrite polishing material having a particle diameter of 1mum, and the test piece is polished to a surface roughness of 2mum or less. Then, the magnetic field in 1,500Gauss is applied onto the outside of a matrix filled with the metal-mesh punching metal in SUS430, and the polishing chips containing ferrite polishing material are magnetically separated and the polishing chips and the polishing material are recovered separately, and 7-3 brass having a purity of 99.5% can be recovered from the polishing chips.
