PURPOSE:To prevent any cuts on the display screen which might occur due to thermal expansion by installing elastic positioning means between the display means and at least one of the electrode means for controlling electron beams. CONSTITUTION:Cylindrical positioning members 42 for positioning the display screen 41 of a display means and an electrode structure in a given positional relationship, are installed outside the display screen 41. In order to prevent the display screen 41 from touching an accelerating electrode during assembly, a coil-like spring 43 is attached around each cylindrical positioning member 42. The electrode structure and the display screen 41 are positioned in a special positional relationship by means of cylindrical positioning members 44 attached to a frame. Therefore the display screen 41 and the electrode structure are held with a given space provided between them during metal sealing. But, in the following process where the case is evacuated until a high level vacuum is produced, the space maintained by the coil-like springs 43 is compressed by atmospheric pressure thereby applying pressure to the convex area of the anode plate. Therefore this image display device can resist atmospheric pressure. |
