PURPOSE:To produce treated water having predetermied quality economically by performing supply and discharge of adsobent to and from an adsorption apparatus with linkage to the quality of treated water. CONSTITUTION:The feed water which has been forced into a treating tower 1 through a pump 12 and a water feed pipe 13 and treated, is received in a treated water tank 7 through a treated water discharge pipe 14 provided with a flow meter F and sensing part C for determining the water quality. The measured values produced in the sensing part C are inputted to an operation part 16a of a controlling part 16. The operation part 16A receives the measured value from hour to hour and operates the amt. to be controlled of an exchanging means of the adsorbent basing on the difference of the measured value from a referential value, and the operated control value is inputted to a controlling part 16b. The controlling part 16b controls a feed pump, etc. of a measuring tank 9 so as to supply a specified amt. of the adsorbent to a catalyst layer at the uppermost stage in accrodance with the result of the operation of the operation part 16a. Also, the adsorbent is controlled by dropping almost same amt. of the catalyst from the catalyst layer at the upper stage to that of the lower stage in the tower, and discharging simultaneously from the lowermost catalyst layer to a waste active carbon storage tank 10.
