A device for the sterilisation of an endoscope comprises a trough and a carrier insert for insertion in this trough. The trough and the carrier insert have a central, deep region and a higher region surrounding the latter, so that regions which lie on top of one another are only slightly spaced apart on insertion of the carrier insert in the trough. The observation part of the endoscope is placed into the central, deep region of the carrier insert, while the supply hose and the observation hose are guided annularly and in parallel with one another around this central region onto the second, higher region of the carrier insert and are completely covered by the liquid disinfectant. This device permits complete disinfection of an endoscope with a minimum requirement of liquid disinfectant and secure holding of the endoscope.
