PURPOSE:To permit the efficient work which is free from interference in dividing and has little useless time by rapidly feeding an abrasive wheel to an intermediate position separated by a prescribed amount in the separation direction from the shoulder part and positioning the abrasive wheel at the next cutting- in starting position in the shoulder-part direction at the more slow speed. CONSTITUTION:Though cutting-in and dividing operation are carried-out from each cutting-in starting position A, each of the starting point and end point within a range for the transfer of an abrasive wheel G at a high feed speed is at an intermediate position C shifted by a certain distance Lr in the separating direction from a shoulder part Wb with respect to the cutting-in starting position A, and therefore, if Lr is proper, the interference of the abrasive wheel G onto a circular corner part Wc or Wb in dividing process is prevented, and the abrasive wheel G contacts with the circular corner part Wc in the process in which the abrasive wheel G advances to the cutting-in starting position A from the intermediate position C in the vacant grinding feed. Therefore, the abrasive wheel G and the workpiece W are not damaged.
