PURPOSE:To reduce cost by reducing the use amount of expensive platinum to a large extent while enabling mass production, by forming two lead-out electrodes to the outer surface of a cylindrical oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte sintered element. CONSTITUTION:Two lead-out electrodes 8, 9 are formed to the outer surface of an oxygen ion conductive electrolyte sintered element 7 comprising stabilized zirconia. Next, a length capable of securing a min. area necessary from the aspect of capacity from the leading end of the element 7 is determined and porous platinum electrodes 10, 11 are formed to the inner and outer surfaces of the element 7 by using a means such as platinum plating technique. These porous electrodes 10, 11 are baked so as to be overlapped with the preliminarily formed lead-out electrodes 8, 9 and electrically connected to said electrodes 8, 9. Subsequently, overcoat 12 is applied to the outside porous platinum electrode 11 and two lead-out electrodes 8, 9 while the lead-out electrodes 8, 9 are electrically connected to lead-out wires 13, 14. |
