PURPOSE:The titled copolymer, obtained by copolymerizing a hydrophilic monomer forming the homopolymer without insolubilizing in water by heating in an aqueous solution with a lipophilic monomer, and capable of controlling the cloud point which is a temperature for insolubilizing the copolymer by heating. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer obtained by copolymerizing (A) a hydrophilic monomer forming the homopolymer thereof without insolubilizing in water by heating, preferably N-ethylacrylamide, with (B) a lipophilic monomer forming the water- insoluble homopolymer thereof, preferably an acrylate or methacrylate derivative such as ethyl acrylate. The polymerization is preferably carried out by using the radical polymerization method with a polymerization initiator from the viewpoint of simplified operation and ease of polymerization control, etc. USE:Temperature-sensitive switches and temperature sensors.
