PURPOSE:To prevent a steel strip from producing surface flaws by detecting the vibration of steel strip at the outlet side of a tension leveler and that of the leveler driving system and regulating an intermesh of leveling rolls so as to make the frequencies of both vibrations different from each other. CONSTITUTION:In a tension leveler for correcting the shape of a steel strip 12 while providing a tension thereto; the vibration of strip 12 at the outlet side of a leveler main body 1 detected by a non-contact displacement meter 13, and the axial strain of a shaft 18 of bridle roll 9 detected by a strain gauge 21, are analyzed in frequency by a vibration-frequency analyzing unit 16, to ordinarily measure the vibration frequencies fST, fDR of the strip and a driving system respectively. Next, an intermesh Im between the upper and lower surfaces T, U of leveling rolls is operated to keep the ratio of frequencies at fST/fDR>2, by actuating a roll-down cylinder 10 with the aid of a processing unit 17. In this way, the resonance between the vibrations of the strip and the system are avoided, therefore the surface flaws of strip is prevented. |
