<p>The shaft for an irreversible support of a car window winding mechanism comprises a steel rod (12) to which is welded an arcuate steel segment (34). The segment is coupled to a corresponding section (36) of a pinion (30), rotating about part (24) of the rod, by an expansible coil spring (38) which, when stationary, bears against the internal surface of a ring (32) to prevent the window e.g. falling open. The steel segment has a cylindrical internal surface (42) which locates about and is secured to at least two ribs (40) on the periphery of the rod by electric resistance welding.</p> |
