SYNTHETIC CRYSTALLINE GROUP VIII METAL SILICATE COMPOSITIONS AND PREPARATION THEREOF

Crystalline Group VIII metal silicate compositions are prepared from a silica containing mixture which is substantially free of aluminum ions by digesting a reaction mixture comprising, a tetraalkylammonium compound, sodium hydroxide, an oxide of silicon, and water, with the reaction mixture containing less than about 100 ppm aluminum. In optional embodiments, the mixture may contain a source of boron and/or a chelating agent. The compositions have utility as catalysts in the conversion of oxygenated compounds such as dimethyl ether and methanol to hydrocarbons, in olefin polymerization and in the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons and/or oxygenated compounds.
