PURPOSE:To imprint a date excellently by forming an 8-shaped window in the on-substrate light shield film of a cell between polarizing plates which are arranged orthogonally, and specifying the gap between adjacent segment electrodes at parts corresponding to the window. CONSTITUTION:Gaps of adjacent segment gap parts 30-36 corresponding to the window 21 of the light shield fiom 22 are set to <=5mum, preferably, <=3mum, and consequently even if adjacent segment electrodes turn off at the same time, the adjacent segment gap parts 30-36 become substantially inconspicuous and unnaturalness of a display front is eliminated. An segment electrode 29 is led out between segment electrodes 24 and 25 to reduce the conspicuousness of the gaps when segment electrodes 27, 28, and 29 turn off at the same time. |
