PURPOSE:To provide the captioned cell with a large capacity and a simplified structure by piling unit cells having a lithium negative electrode and a positive electrode selected from one kind or more of MnO2, (CF)n, (C2F)n and sealed with a sheath film, and housing it in a metal case. CONSTITUTION:A structure is provided by bringing into contact a lithium plate negative electrode 3 and a positive electrode 5 formed by active materials of one kind or more of MnO2, (CF)n, (C2F)n via a separator 4 impregnated with an electrolytic solution. Said structure is sealed with a sheath film 1 to provide a unit cell. Two or three of said unit cells connected in series to each other are piled and housed in a metal case 9. The cell made of a combination of Li, and MnO2 and (CF)n or (C2F)n, has much larger capacity per unit volume than that of a manganese Leclanche cell, and an open end potential thereof is high, ranging from 3.1-3.5V. Since the layer-built cell so obtained is used as a unit cell, two or three of said layer-built cells will do to obtain an object potential instead of six manganese cells. |
