PURPOSE:To irradiate infrared excitation light on a large amt. of a phosphor, to intensify the luminous visible ray dose, to provide excellent sensitivity, to simplify the constitution of a measuring circuit, and to improve the accuracy of measurement by mixing and dispersing the phosphor in an optical fiber especially into the clad layer of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:An optical fibet 1 is formed by laminating a clad layer 3 around a core 2 concentrically with the core, and a nylon jacket 4 is coated on the peripheral surface of the layer 3. A fluorescent material 5 which is excited by the irradiation of an infrared ray and emits a visible ray is uniformly dispersed in the clad layer 3. The phosphor 5 is appropriately selected from YF3:Yb, Er, YF3:Yb, Tm, Y2O3:Yb, Er, YOCl:Yb, Er, etc. In the fluorescent material 5, Er, etc. is the phosphor, Yb in a functional stabilizer, and YOCl, etc. is a base material having excellent miscibility. Besides, 10-5,000pts. or preferably 100-1,000pts., based on the amt. of a silicone resin, phosphor rial is dispersed and mixed in the clad layer 3. The amt. of the material to be mixed is regulated to 100-5,000pts., because sufficient intensity of the luminescence can not be obtained at <10pts., and the fluorescence conversin efficiency is decreased at >5,000pts. |
