<p>PURPOSE:To improve display contrast by using a compound diode composed of an amorphous semiconductor to which hydrogen or a halogen element is added as a nonlinear element which employs a dynamic AC driving system. CONSTITUTION:An active element 1 provided on a substrate consists of a photodetecting element 4, the nonlinear element 2, and liquid crystal 3. The liquid crystal 3 is sandwiched between a substrate which has X wiring and another substrate which has Z wiring to have matrix constitution. The NIN junction type compound diode composed of the amorphous semiconductor to which hydrogen or a halogen element is added is used as the nonlinear element 2.</p> |
