PURPOSE:To make smooth the shift of the mode of a vehicle into a constant speed running mode, by initiating a constant speed control for a desired lower limit vehicle speed if the vehicle speed reaches a speed which is larger than the desired lower limit speed by a predetermined vehicle speed when a set switch in a constant speed running device is turned to the decelerating mode. CONSTITUTION:When the decelerating mode of a vehicle is judged at the step 101 and the vehicle speed is less than the sum of a lower limit vehicle speed and a predetermined value (i) at the step 102, the lower limit vehicle speed is stored in a memory at the step 104, so that a constant speed running control is initiated for the above-mentioned lower limit vehicle speed before the vehicle speed comes to the lower limit vehicle speed. Thereby, the vehicle smoothly comes into a constant speed running at the lower limit vehicle speed, and therefore, no large decline as conventionally experienced in brought about. |
