PURPOSE:To reduce deterioration due to erasing or reproduction, by a method wherein a recording layer comprising a liquid crystal, an indolenine cyanine dye and a quencher is provided between a base provided with an electrode layer and a transparent base provided with a transparent electrode layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer comprising a liquid crystal, an indolenine cyanine dye and a quencher is provided between the base provided with the electrode layer and the transparent base provided with the transparent electrode layer, thereby obtaining an optical recording medium. The indolenine cyanine dye is a compound of the formula, wherein each of phi and psi is an indolenine ring, a thiazole ring, an oxazole ring, a selenazole ring or the like to which an aromatic ring may be bonded, L is a methine chain, X<-> is an anion, and m is 0 or 1. The quencher is a chelate compound of a transition metal. |
