A cylinder open at its top for receiving coffee beans is above a heater which causes hot air to rise through the cylinder to roast the beans. The roasted beans are led through a pipe to a closed grinder, whence the ground coffee is fed by a screw type conveyor to a third closed container where it falls into a generally conical filter. - The filter is beneath a water vapour diffuser filled from a tank, the water being boiled by a direct heater, or by an electric element. A vessel receives the infused coffee.
