<p>NEW MATERIAL:The phenylpiperazine compound of formula I (R is H or OH) and its salt. EXAMPLE:2-[2-[4-(2-Methoxyphenyl)-1-piperazinyl]ethyl]-3-hydroxyphthal idine. USE:It has the activities to decrease the blood pressure, increase the cerebral blood flow, decrease the pulse rate, and suppress the ventricular arrhythmia caused by myocardial ischemia, and is useful as a remedy for circulatory diseases, e.g. hypotensor, antiarrhythmic, drug for ischemic diseases, peripheral vasodilator, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula III which is one of the compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting the compound of formula II with sodium borohydride in an alcohol such as ethanol at room temperature under stirring for several hours. Another compound of formula IV which is also one of the compound of formula I can be obtained by reducing the compound of formula IIwith zinc dust in acetic acid under heating while stirring for 1-2hr.</p> |
