PURPOSE:To obtain the titled copolymer resin excellent in transparency, heat resistance, heat stability and strength, by polymerizing styrene with methyl methacrylate and methacrylic acid in the presence of a specified polymerization initiator and a specified polymerization modifier. CONSTITUTION:0.01-1.5pts.wt. t-butyl peroxyester (e.g., t-bytyl peroxy-2-hexanoate) as a radical polymerization initiator, 0.01-1.5pts.wt. high-temperature active organic peroxide of a 10hr half-period decomposition temperature >=90 deg.C (e.g., t-butyl peroxybenzoate) and 0.01-2pts.wt. methylstyrene dimer (e.g., 2,4- diphenyl-4-methyl-1-pentene) as a polymerization modifier are added to 100pts.wt. monomer mixture containing 98-16wt% styrene, 1-49wt% methyl methacrylate and 1-35wt% methacrylic acid, and the resulting mixture is polymerized at 60- 150 deg.C. |
