PURPOSE:To produce the titled compound by contacting the racemic isomer of a bicycloketone with 1,6-di(halophenyl)-1,6-diphenyl-2,4-hexadiyne-1,6-diol to obtain a clathrate complex including one of the antipodes, and decomposing the complex. CONSTITUTION:The racemic isomer of a bicycloketone (e.g. the compound of formula I ) is made to contact with the resolution reagent comprising the optically active compound of formula II (X is halogen) in an organic solvent (e.g. mixture of ether and petroleum ether) to obtain a clathrate complex including one of the antipodes of the bicycloketone. The objective optically active bicycloketone can be produced by separating the complex from the reaction mixture, and treating by column chromatography or heating under reduced pressure. Another isomer of the optically active bicycloketone can be obtained by using an optically active compound of formula II having the optical rotation of inverted sign.
