<p>Phenylacetic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their salts and esters are new: (R1=H or lower alkyl. A is oxo or hydroxyimino, n=1,2 or 3). Pref. cpds. have R1=H or CH3 and n=1 or 2. Cpds. (I) are prepd. e.g. by reacting a 2-COOR3-substd. cyclo alkanone with 4-XCH2-phenylalkanoic ester, then hydrolysis and decarboxylation (R3=lower alkyl; X=halo or sulphonic acid residue). (I) are antiinflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agents administered at 50-2000mg/day (adult dose). A typical cpd. in 2- 4-(2-oxocyclopentan-1-ylmethyl)phenyl propionic acid.</p> |
