摘要 PURPOSE:To search easily whether a buried object is tubular or not by varying continuously a polarized wave direction of a transmitting radio wave oscillated continuously, and observing a varying quantity of the intensity of a reflected wave from an object to be searched. CONSTITUTION:A continuous wave from a transmitter 3 is supplied to an antenna 1 through a phase device 4, a reflected wave from an underground searched object is supplied to a receiver 7 through an antenna 2 and a phase device 5, and its intensity is detected. This detected output is provided to an operational indicator 8, the intensity of the maximum point and the minimum point of the reflected wave is calculated, and a varying quantity of the intensity is displayed. In such a case, when the phase and the level of a power supply to the antennas 1, 2 are controlled by providing the output of a phase controller 6 to the phase devices 4 and 5, in case a buried object is a tubular object having one directional property, the reflecting intensity goes to the maximum when the transmitting and receiving polarized wave direction coincides with the longitudinal direction of the tubular object, and said intensity goes to the minimum when they attain orthogonal to each other.
