PURPOSE:To carry out efficiently heat treatment with steam, by sending steam to a heating column surrounded by an insulating jacket in such a way the steam becomes a circular flow along an inner wall face of the heating column, traveling yarn in the heating column. CONSTITUTION:Steam is sent from the plural feeding ports 9 to the heating column 1 in such a way that the steam becomes a circular flow along an inner wall face of the heating column 1, and the yarn Y is heat-treated while being traveled in a heat-treating zone. The steam is subjected to heat exchange with the inner wall of the insulating jacket 3, so that its heat capacity is increased and a large amount of heat can be transferred to the yarn. Steam condensed to the yarn is also smoothly subjected to heat exchange with the steam having newly increased heat capacity.
