PURPOSE:To reduce cost and to improve reliability to resistance to a head crush by providing melamine resin layers on the surfaces of an Al alloy substrate and forming continuous magnetic layers thereon by sputtering so that the influence of the impurities existing in the Al substrate is eliminated. CONSTITUTION:A melamine resin coating liquid is spin-coated on the surface of an Al alloy plate 1 under rotation at 1,000-4,000rpm to form melamine layers 2 on the surface of the substrate. The number of revolutions in this stage is an important factor for controlling the film thickness of the melamine layers. The melamine layers are subjected to a normal treatment for 20-40min at 140- 180 deg.C in order to evaporate the solvent component in the spin-coated melamine resin coating liquid. The melamine layers are thereafter subjected to normal baking for 10-20min at 200-280 deg.C to complete the polymn. reaction for curing. When the substrate having the melamine resin layers is completed, continuous recording layers 3 of iron oxide to be used as recording layers are sputtered on said layers and further lubricating and protecting layers 4 are coated on the surfaces thereof, by which the sputtered disk is completed.
