PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of a centrifugal compressor by furnishing a suction passage on the counter main plate side of the compressor impeller which shall inhale a boosted gas from the counter main plate side of the impeller and return it to the inlet to the impeller, and thereby delaying delamination of the flow at the inlet to impeller. CONSTITUTION:This centrifugal compressor is provided with a porous part with slits 10 in the side plate 14 of the impeller at its portion near the inlet, where the relative speed of the fluid has a great deceleration to provide likelihood of flow delamination because of growth of the interface layer. Slits 10 suck the fluid decelerated, while flowing the inlet to the impeller to said portion, and boosted to outside the side plate 14 and return it to the inlet to impeller for feeding again into the impeller. This can delay generation and growth of the interface layer.
