PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of each component device as well as the overall constitution for a frequency synthesizer, by applying a binary system where the synthetic output frequency changes in response to a binary number. CONSTITUTION:A signal selection switch S2 is provided to select either one of two types of source frequency signals fc and fc+2<n> (n: desired set digit number) with a binary selection signal B1 (1 or 0) together with a mixer MIX2 which mixes the source frequency signal selected by the switch S2 and a low-order digit frequency signal, a BPF2 which transmits the frequency sum component of the mixer MIX2, and a frequency divider DV2 which divides said frequency sum signal into 1/2. These four component devices form a series circuit. The frequency signal f0 to be extracted is set at fc or fc+2<n-1> according to whether the binary selection signal B0 is set at 0 or 1. Then a synthetic output frequency fn=fc+B0+2B1+2<2>B2+-+2<n>Bn is obtained from a final output terminal 12. This frequency fn by a binary number in accordance with the source frequency fc. Thus the frequency changes in a range of fc-fc+2<n+1> with a step of 1Hz based on the above-mentioned equation. |
