The composite body is produced in a casting mould (4) from a hard-metal piece (1) having a dovetailed undercut (2) and cast metal. The hard-metal piece (1) inserted in the casting mould (4) is surrounded with liquid cast metal (3) in such a way that at least its region having the dovetailed undercut (2) is covered with liquid cast metal (3). The hard-metal piece (1) is put under compressive stress as a result of the solidification rate of the cast metal (3) after the casting. When the cast metal (3) has solidified, the hard-metal piece (1) is anchored unreleasably in the latter. The process takes place by means of relatively simple casting; at the same time, the production costs are kept low. <IMAGE>
